Why is my eheim filter leaking

Click to expand With my leaky Eheim, I have placed in a washing up bowl and have lubricated the seals the impellor seal does look perished so I ordered a new set from ebay which have now arrived. Lubricating the seals has slowed the leak but not cured it, so will fit new seals asap. Joined Apr 26, Messages 1 Reaction score 0.

I have the same filter. Mine lasted less than a year before it too sprang a leak. It just started leaking one day right where power cord is connected. I had to cut the power on breaker for fear I would be electrocuted had I stepped in the puddle it left. You think Eheim would be more concerned about customer safety and recall the filter for obvious hazardous reasons, but no.

They would rather argue with you on how your method of purchasing the filter voids the 3-year manufacturer's warranty. You see, because I purchased my filter new off of eBay - Eheim will not honor the warranty as they claim eBay is not an authorized seller of their products. I think this is total BS as there is no mention of this in their warranty. Further, I've read almost identical complaints from numerous other Pro 3E owners on various forums, which leads me to conclude this is most likely a common manufacturer's defect that Eheim should own up to and remedy.

It's not a crack as it leaks whichever way I tilt it. So therefore it's not sealed all the way. Anyone got any ideas? SRP Take the filter to the support center and see what they say. It does sound like the head unit is not forming a water tight seal when clipped down, i had the same probs with a jbl e..

John S Member. Could be leaking from the priming area. Take the head off and then take the cover off the head to check 4 screws on the underside. John S said:. They took it apart and replaced a few more seals inside the head unit. Apparently the gasket needed replacing. But all in all they said it's leak free so hopefully sorted. Search titles only. Search Advanced search….

Bonne46 AC Members. May 20, 1 So this filter isn't really that old, maybe couple months no more then a year. Well I just noticed today that my carpet is wet so I looked everywere. Well when I opend the stand doors I saw the floor of the stand was wet and that water was in one of those areas were you can put your hands in to lift the filter up.
